Sketches 4, and mustaches. Mostly sketches.

Another week of favorite sketches. Also, I'm in the process of growing a handlebar mustache, I may post in-process photos. I usually only post art stuff on here, but facial hair of this magnitude is art, so it might make an appearance. As will the influx of mustache drawings that are sure to follow.

Cardinal

Sorry for the break, every now and then I forget who I am as an artist. Or I realize that I've never known. Either way, I'll be back with more stuff soon. And a better idea of what I believe. And definitely more doodles.

November Running Timmmmmmmes

I have another column in Running Times Magazines, this one about appearance fees for pro runners. It's in the November issue, go check it out! Also, 3 weeks between blog posts is too long. That one's my bad.

I've been doing a lot more photoshop painting lately that I will be posting soon. Some of it's about birds, and the men who sell them door to door. Get pumped.

*insert clever blog post title here*

Yikes! Too long without a post.

I just finished something new, I've been doing more work about my distaste for living in Boulder and this is no exception. At least I'm getting inspired! I've also been doing a lot of traditional medium stuff lately which will no doubt make it's way on here soon. A lot of it's old people. Get excited.

I recently found a cache of work I did in college, some of which is pretty hilarious (in both a good and bad way). That may show up here, if I can muster the courage.

New Running Times Feature

I have a new feature in the October issue of Running Times Magazine, go and pick it up! I did both the design and illustration, so I'm really proud of it. Also, I do figure drawing a couple days a week; don't be surprised if some of my sketches start showing up here.

Design work? On an Illustration site? WHAAAA?

It doesn't happen too often, but every now and then I like to show design work, if for no other reason than to remind people that I can do it. I did these labels through Moxie and thought they were cool, they're for a new beer called Milk Stout Nitro. My buddy Ivan Rocha did the label that ultmately got selected, but I still had some fun.

Weekend Vector Fun

Noticeable Improvement

I was going through some of my older stuff the other day and it allowed me to take stock of how far I've come over the last couple of years. I don't usually show old stuff here, but I'm going to make an exception. Below is a side by side of something I did 2 years ago against something I finished last week.

Yikes. It's always interesting/haunting to go back and take a look at what you use to think was really cool. I've come a long way in a couple of years, and I still have so far to go. I'ts been a great ride so far, and I don't think I'm getting off anytime soon!

Sunday Night Additions

Just finished a new project inspired by one of my good buddies at work. I have a bunch of new projects that are either almost done or able to be shown, so expect a bunch more new additions in the next couple of weeks. Also, I got my new computer! I got a 27 inch iMac and it's beautiful, I love it much more than someone should love a piece of machinery. This will make working so much more fun!

Grandstand View: September

I've been illustrating a column in Running Time Magazine called Grandstand View for several months now, this was my illustration for the September issue about the US team not having a home meet.

I really like how the style had evolved over time, this has been a really fun project to work on. I'll try and dig up some of my old column illustrations to show as well as upload the next ones. Here's how the article ran:

Computer Woes

Sooo it seems my computer is dying, finally. It was a good run, but she is old and was never really set up to do what I needed her to do anyway. However, a shiny new IMac is on its way to me *insert childish giggle of excitement* and when it arrives I will post new sweet stuff. And it will be awesome.

New Stufffffff

Just posted some new stuff in the work section, I'm trying out something new I learned from my buddy Chris Newberg. I started with pencil and colored in photoshop, it's a pretty simple technique that's a lot of fun to do. There are some things I will do diferently next time, but I'm pleased with the results and will definitely come out with more like it soon!

Sorry For The Break...

I was recently chewed out by a friend for being horribly unavailable, so I figured I had better get my act together and get a site up. This will be the first time I have ever tried to maintain a blog, so we'll see how it goes. I have some personal stuff I'm finishing up and a few projects from work that I need approval to show, so stay tuned for more arty goodness. In the meantime, go have a look around!
